AM3C Cohort 1 meets: thirty students, three minutes each
Thirty admitted students were each given three minutes to present who they are, their background, their research interest and the impact they intend to make.
On Monday 6 April 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Zoom, the Centre held its Cohort 1 familiarization session. Rather than the Centre talking at the cohort for three hours, thirty admitted students were each given three minutes to present who they are, their background, their research interest and the impact they intend to make. A timer was run. Attendance peaked at 35 participants.
The cohort is senior and scattered across the country. A PhD-heavy intake of working professionals only supervises well if the Centre knows what is already in the room. The pitches are now the Centre’s primary source for matching candidates to academic supervisors and industry mentors, and gave a first read on where the theses are heading before a single proposal was written.
