About AM3C
The Amina Mohammed Centre for Climate Change is a postgraduate research and teaching centre at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, launched in June 2022.
The Amina Mohammed Centre for Climate Change was launched in June 2022, at the convocation of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and named for Her Excellency Amina J. Mohammed GCON, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, who accepted the honour in person. Senate approved the establishment of the Centre at its 103rd regular meeting, and the composition of its three boards at the 115th. The three boards were inaugurated on 30 June 2025.
AM3C is a postgraduate research and teaching centre. It does not run undergraduate programmes. Its degrees are awarded through the School of Postgraduate Studies of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
Its work has three parts: training people who will work on climate problems in Nigeria and West Africa; applied research commissioned against real problems rather than filed in an archive; and standing between the University and the agencies that make climate policy and spend climate money.
Vision
To contribute to a climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable future where people and ecosystems coexist and prosper, in alignment with SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 15 (Life on Land) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Mission
To serve as a regional centre of excellence that advances climate science, education, innovation, and inclusive development through interdisciplinary research, stakeholder engagement, and evidence-based policy support.

Three boards, inaugurated June 2025
Senate approved the composition of the Centre’s three boards at its 115th meeting. They were inaugurated together on 30 June 2025.
Board of Trustees
The Centre's highest governing body. It sets strategic direction, safeguards the Centre's mission and approves major commitments.
8 membersAdvisory Board
A body of senior policy, academic and development-sector leaders who advise the Centre on strategy, partnerships and impact.
9 membersAcademic Board
Chaired within the University structure, the Academic Board oversees the Centre's programmes, admissions and academic standards.

Fifteen MSc and PhD programmes are running across the four departments, each with an academic supervisor and an industry supervisor.
